The daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis gave birth to her first child in April of last year. She had chosen to give birth in the privacy of her home, surrounded by her family, not without some difficulties.
More and more women are choosing to have a natural birth at home, in their privacy, surrounded by their loved ones and a small team of midwives and doctors. This choice was made by Rumer Willis, who gave birth to Luetta, her first child, on April 18. In an Informed Pregnancy podcast released on June 5, the daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis assured this moment was the “most ecstatic and joyous” of her entire life, albeit one of the most fundamental.

“It was crazy”
The 34-year-old says she spent months preparing for her birth alongside her partner Derek Richard Thomas, as well as her mother Demi Moore and her sisters Scout La Rue and Tallulah Belle. Last April, Rumer Willis gave birth in her bathroom surrounded by her family. However, if her cervix was dilated enough, she explains, her bag of water continued to swell without breaking, which is unusual. “I asked him (to the midwife, editor’s note) if I had to dig it myself and he said yes. I said, “What, are you serious?” he explained.
And continue. “I slipped my finger and felt my pocket, it was crazy. I could smell the little bag. It was like a balloon filled with water, a little harder skin. After following her perinatal specialist’s instructions to the letter, the pocket finally gave way. “The sensation of the bag of waters pushing against the cervix is not the same as when the baby’s head comes out.”
In a post released shortly after giving birth (above), Rumer Willis talked about the “most amazing and joyful time” of her life, followed by some strong words for her daughter. “Every moment, every contraction and every labor pain was worth it and I would do it a thousand times over if it meant spending one second with you,” she wrote on Instagram. And add: “I have been waiting and dreaming about you all my life. You are more than I could ever imagine. You changed my life in the most profound way. It is the privilege and honor of my life to be your mother and I will always do anything and everything for you. I hope you never stop sleeping next to me or bathing with me.”
From daughter to mother
In another series of photos taken during the birth, Rumer William also wanted to thank his mother, Demi-Moore, who was present during this journey. “The privilege of walking the journey of motherhood with you by my side for support and guidance is something I have only dreamed of. Thank you for giving me the most beautiful space as I transition from a young girl to a mother. Thank you for helping me get through this ordeal and get on with it. What a gift to finally understand the depth of love you have for my sisters and me. I love you mom,” we can read.
With the arrival of Luetta, Demi-Moore and Bruce Willis become grandparents for the first time. The sexagenarian also posed with her granddaughter on Mother’s Day, stamping her photo with the message “The Cycle of Life.”
