To celebrate the arrival of this highly anticipated film, learn a little more about Ariel’s personality and some of her greatest strengths and weaknesses.
1. Quality: Curious
Ariel’s curiosity could be one of her main traits. The princess, since the beginning of the film, has always wanted to learn about different things — mainly related to the world of humans. Therefore, she was always asking the people around her about the items she found.
2. Defect: Disobedient
Among Triton’s daughters, Ariel was by far one of the most headstrong. The youngest did not listen to her father’s requests who, despite his strict manner, were only trying to keep her safe. By not listening to him, the mermaid ends up getting involved in several troubles.
3. Quality: Self-confident
During the film, we hardly see Ariel doubting herself and her abilities. One of the main examples is her strong commitment to get Prince Eric to kiss her, even without being able to speak.
4. Flaw: Impulsive
Ariel has a habit of living in the moment, and not thinking too much about the consequences. When signing the contract with Úrsula, she accepts the condition of losing her voice to gain legs, and having to kiss Prince Eric in just three days to remain human, or she would return to being a mermaid and belong to the witch. However, with that simple decision, she almost put the world of humans and the sea in danger by giving the chance for the villain to assume power.
5. Quality: Courageous
Despite everything, one of the main qualities of the princess is that she is extremely brave. Right at the beginning of the film, she runs away from a scary shark, saves Eric from a shipwreck during a dangerous storm, faces her father, accepts Ursula’s crazy deal, and even goes to a completely different world, where she knows nothing and no one. .
