Without the tiara, Camilla arrives in a white state dress, all understated

This Saturday, May 6, Camilla Parker Bowles is crowned ‘Queen’ alongside her husband Charles III. On this occasion, he humbly presented himself for the religious office organized in Westminster Abbey, London.

The eyes of the world are on the United Kingdom. Eight months after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the country is finally celebrating the coronation of its new king, Charles III. Camilla Parker Bowles, in attendance at her side, was also crowned ‘Queen’, rather than ‘Queen Consort’, this Saturday, May 6, at London’s Westminster Abbey. Arriving from Buckingham Palace in the Diamond Jubilee coach, the royal couple appeared in state dress for the church service.

“Partner” is no longer mentioned. Charles III imposes the title “Queen Camilla” on all official documents

As tradition dictates, the state dress of the two sovereigns has already been worn by members of the royal family at other events. Charles III thus wore the clothes of his grandfather, King George VI, for his coronation in 1937. Camilla was adorned in Elizabeth II’s dress for her coronation in 1953. Crimson velvet dress tailored by Ed and Ravenscroft designers.

Tribute to Elizabeth II

The queen had embroidered wildflowers, a coat dress with forget-me-nots and ornamental decorations, particularly those that represented her husband’s love of nature. You can also see the floral emblems of the four nations of the United Kingdom: rose, thistle, narcissus and shamrock. For simplicity and perhaps also to focus more on her outfit, Camila chose not to wear a tiara. Only a diamond necklace and earrings in honor of her late mother-in-law. Indeed, the jewels belonged to the mother of Charles III, who died on September 8, 2022 in Balmoral (Scotland).

After the service at Westminster Abbey, the King and Queen will also be decked out in their ceremonial robes. Charles III will once again slip into his grandfather’s clothes, unlike his wife. The latter will present a new creation in the United Kingdom, made exclusively for the occasion, with his reworked crown. This really belonged to Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, known as ‘The Queen Mother’, grandmother of Charles III. A new tribute that Royals fans should love.
