Poetry and the Mediterranean at the heart of the 7th edition of Design Parade Toulon dedicated to interior architecture

Villa Noailles organizes the 7th edition of the Design Parade around interior architecture in the great port of the Mediterranean. From June 22 to 25, ten young designers will have the opportunity to share their creations with a jury chaired by architect Alin Asmar from Amman.

This is the meeting place for lovers of design, form and material. Every year Villa Noailles organizes a design parade that takes place in two different locations. The festival allows ten young designers to present their work to a jury made up of experts from the world of architecture, such as Alin Asmar from Amman, and personalities from other worlds such as pastry chef Pierre Hermé. The event offers these artists great exposure and support in their first steps into the world of design.

Andre Putman as Godmother

Created in 2006 by André Putman’s godmother, Design Parade Hyères aims to share contemporary creations in the field of design with the public and professionals. Ten years later, Design Parade Toulon was launched with Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec as sponsors. Focused on interior architecture, this is the first competition and festival of its kind in France. From now on, every summer Villa Noailles organizes a Design Parade in two parts: in Toulon for interior architecture and in Hyères for design. All aspects of the decorative arts are covered during this long weekend.

Searching for “poetic materiality”.

This year, the president of the Design Parade Toulon jury is the Lebanese architect Alin Asmar from Amman. “When Pascal Moussard, president of Villa Noilles, and Jean-Pierre Blanc, director, called me to offer me the opportunity to be president of the interior design jury for the 7th edition, it made me feel the same way. when the sun’s rays caress the skin,” he admits Madame Figaro.

Aline Asmar from Amman

This year, Alin Asmar from Amman decided to surround himself with “distinguished personalities with different talents, from the world of sewing to writing, from the world of beauty to the world of creativity.” Together, they have chosen ten candidates who will present their imagined creations on that occasion in the Diocese of Toulon.

These ten young finalists were chosen “for their unique visions, carried by their strong voices, all united by a deep search for poetic materiality,” says the jury president. “The projects all have this feature of a common point of view and a search for materials and a free and powerful atmosphere at the same time that fascinates, fascinates and also disturbs. A certain idea of ​​the search for beauty and the inspirational power of the interior, beyond the simple obsession with form and function.”

Mediterranean theme

The candidates of both competitions receive awards thanks to the various partners of the festival: Manufacture de Sèvres, Cirva in Marseille, Tectona, Hyères, Van Cleef & Arpels, 19M, Mobilier National and the Carmignac Foundation for Toulon and. Chanel. The Chanel house awards the Visual Merchandising Prize. the ten finalists of the interior design competition must create a model around the theme of the Mediterranean Sea. They will present an object, furniture or decorative motif inspired by the silhouette of the house of Chanel. These models will be on display in the former Diocese of Toulon until autumn 2023. Chanel offers the winner of the Visual Merchandising Prize the opportunity to carry out a creative project of up to €20,000 in collaboration with one or more fashion houses. art that will be shown at the next festival in 2024.
