With two more seasons confirmed by Netflix, ‘Heartstopper’ has differences between the HQ and the series
Fans can celebrate. Netflix confirmed this Friday, the 20th, that ‘Heartstopper’, a series based on the exciting comics of Alice Oseman, will win two more seasons. Launched in April, the series tells the story of Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson (Connor Kit).
As teenagers, they embark on a journey of self-discovery and soon realize that their feelings for each other go beyond friendship. With production by Patrick Walters, the series presents some differences when compared to what fans of the franchise find when buying the comics.
Oliver Spring
One of the main differences would probably draw even more sighs from those who watch the series. That’s because in Oseman’s works, the character Charlie has a little brother. It’s about Oliver Spring, who in one of the comics even stars in a cute moment alongside Nick and Charlie.
Opposite the characteristics of Charlie and Tori, sister of the protagonist, Oliver Spring is presented as a cheerful and energetic boy. The Alice Oseman fandom website shows more details about the character: he was born in 2004; has dark hair and brown eyes; he has Ollie as a nickname, and in the ‘Heartstopper’ comics, the character goes from 6 to 8 years old.
Unfortunately, the little one was left out of the adaptation made by Netflix. The Tab echoed an explanation given by Oseman through Instagram regarding the non-existence of the character in the series.
“Oliver has little to no plot significance other than being adorable, and hiring a child actor poses a lot of difficulties and challenges! Less Oliver means more screen time for other characters,” Alice explained, as echoed by the outlet.
On social media, Charlie’s little brother has already caught the attention of Heartstopper fans, who missed him in the Netflix adaptation.
