Isaiah Lee, 23, pleaded not guilty to stabbing him in December in a fight at a Los Angeles transitional housing facility, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
Prosecutors say the publication of Chapelle’s incident facilitated the identification and arrest of Lee in a previous attack.
A message left with the County Ombudsman’s Office requesting comment from Lee’s attorney did not immediately return.
Lee was arrested on May 3 after allegedly rushing to the stage and facing the Chapel at a booth at the Hollywood Bowl.
Police said they posted a picture of the gun with a replica of the pistol with a large blade bent from it like a pocket knife.
Chapelle was not injured and ended the show, which was part of the “Netflix Is a Joke” comedy festival.
Lee pleaded not guilty to two counts of Carrying a Battery, Intentionally Carrying a Deadly Gun, and Interfering with a Public Event. Remains in jail after attack.
