Meet some k-pop idols who have a special connection with our country
Every Brazilian fan loves it when their favorite artist notices their country, even if it is with a simple “hi” or “I love you” said in the mother tongue of the Tupiniquim land, Portuguese. But, did you know that within k-pop there are idols that have a much greater connection with Brazil?
In addition to having many fans in Brazilian lands, some of them have already lived in the country, or have family that lives here. If you still don’t know, check out this list of 5 idols who have a connection to Brazil!
1. Heejin (LOONA)
When I was a child, heejin he came to live in Brazil, in São Paulo, with his family and still knows how to speak a few words in Portuguese. The LOONA member lived here for just a month, but has strong memories of her visit to our lands — in addition to revealing that her favorite Brazilian food is açaí ice cream.
2. BM (KARD)
All members of KARD are passionate about Brazil, and always include our country in their tours. However, the leader BM he has an even closer relationship with us, since his father lived here from the age of 11 until he left for college.
3. Huening Kai (TXT), Huening Bahiyyih (Kep1er) and Lea (ex-VIVA)
The brothers Huening they are extremely loved by the k-pop community, and also have a very strong connection with our Brazil. That’s because your father, Nabil David Huening, comes from a German family, but was born here, in Maranhão. Despite having lived in Brazilian lands only until he was four years old, Nabil is fluent in Portuguese, and has already taught some words to kai.
4. Woodz (soloist)
Cho SeungyounO woodz, was born in South Korea, but has always been a big fan of football, and had the dream of becoming a professional player. That way, he moved to the country of football, where he was part of the youth team at Corinthians, in São Paulo, where he was known as Luizinho. He lived here for two years, where he also attended school, but ended up returning to his home country after deciding he wanted to become a singer.
5. Read (BLACKSWAN)
LarissaMore known as read, from BLACKSWAN, is the first Brazilian idol to debut in a k-pop girl group. She was born in Curitiba, and debuted in 2020. Today, she has another Brazilian companion in the group, the gaúcha Gabriela Dalcin.
