Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have split, multiple outlets reported Saturday.
The breakup, first reported by Entertainment Tonight, took place “a few weeks ago” and was “not dramatic.”
Swift’s relationship with the British actor, who began dating in late 2016, dates back to before the singer’s ‘Midnights’ album was released in October.
Swift has worked with Alwyn on a number of projects, including “Folklore” and “Evermore”. He won a Grammy Award for his role in 2021.
Later that year, he thanked Alwyn after winning the Grammy for Album of the Year.
Swift said her relationship with Alwyn was the inspiration for her song “Lavender Haze,” a line she learned about being in love.
“When you’re in the ‘lavender fog,’ you’ll do anything to stay there and not let people pull you out of that cloud,” she said, noting that she and Alwyn had to protect their relationship from the world exterior. .
“We had to avoid the weird rumors, the tabloid stuff and just ignore it,” the singer continued. “And so this song is about ignoring those things to protect the real things.”
Both Swift and Alwyn have yet to publicly address the reports.
