Lance Reddick’s lawyer says official cause of death ‘incompatible’ with actor’s lifestyle

The official cause of death of Lance Reddick, who died of ischemic heart disease in March, has been openly disputed by his lawyer, James Hornstein, who is not convinced that the “fittest person” he ever knew died at the age of 60. due to hardened arteries.

“Lance was the most physically fit person I’ve ever known,” Hornstein told ET on Friday. “He exercised daily in his home gym, including extensive cardio, and the availability of gym facilities was a contractual requirement for his work away from home.”

Hornstein added that Reddick “ate like a dietitian monitored every meal.”

“The information that appears on the death certificate is totally inconsistent with his lifestyle,” he told the media. “In the name [his wife] Stephanie Reddick, the information on the death certificate is unfounded and inconsistent with the facts known to the family.”

Reddick’s death certificate was first obtained by TMZ and listed atherosclerotic coronary artery disease in addition to ischemic heart disease. The former denotes “a buildup of fat” in the artery walls, according to the Mayo Clinic, while the latter refers to extremely low blood flow.

Hornstein found the cause of death suspicious due to Reddick’s healthy lifestyle.

Hornstein told ET that “the coroner’s statement on the death certificate is not the result of an autopsy,” however. He added that “no autopsy was performed” on Reddick and that “no medical examination of Lance during his lifetime ever indicated any such condition.”

Reddick was cremated, making any future autopsy impossible. Hornstein continues to represent Reddick’s grieving widow, who recently expressed her appreciation for her fans, who reportedly held an honor session of “Destiny 2,” her favorite video game.

“Lance was taken from us too soon,” Stephanie wrote. “Thank you for all the love, support and beautiful stories shared on these platforms over the last day. I see your posts and I can’t begin to express how grateful I am to have them.

Reddick, best known for his work on “The Wire” and the “John Wick” franchise, is survived by his wife and two children. News of his death prompted solemn online tributes from former “Wire” co-star Keanu Reeves. Wendell Pierce AND Ben Stiller.
