Discover the details behind one of the most remarkable events in the ‘Turma da Mônica Jovem’ comics
He creates infallible plans and she owns the street: Mônica and Cebolinha, a duo created by Mauricio de Sousa in the 60s, they grew up exchanging slaps and rabbits in the ‘Turma da Mônica’ comics, surprising the public when they appeared about to kiss on the cover of the fourth edition of the magazine ‘Turma da Mônica Jovem’, launched in 2008.
The kiss really happened and the initiative was taken by the owner of the Samson. The unexpected event by Cebolinha and by part of the public, was commented at the time by the creator of the characters, who could not say at that moment, which would be the steps of the new couple:
Let’s see what will happen in the future”, lost Mauricio de Sousa, the creator of Turma, to G1, in 2008 by telephone. “More than ever, this magazine is a living creation. I’ve been hearing a lot from the reading public in internet communities. And I’ve been exchanging a lot of ideas with young people so that we can write in their language.”
However, it’s been about 15 years since Mônica and Cebola’s first real kiss (as the character is now called in his teenage phase), so it’s no longer a secret that the ‘unlikely couple’ has hitched up a relationship, and they even had a wedding to formalize their love, as shown in issue No. 50 entitled “The Wedding of the Century”.
But, to get to the altar, the duo’s relationship followed ‘standard protocol’, with the beginning of passion marked by a marriage proposal. But how was this order fulfilled? RECREIO tells you next!
Wants to date me?
For fear of losing Mônica to other suitors, Cebola wastes no more time and finally asks the girl out on a date, in issue nº 34 of ‘Turma da Mônica Jovem’ entitled “Quer Namorar Comigo?”, resulting in the scene that appears on the cover of the comic .
Even so, in the story that follows the manga style, Cebola ends up revealing behaviors that are still immature, and the reflections on ego competitions end up demonstrating that maybe that wasn’t the right time for both to start a relationship even though they liked each other very much, since in the final pages, Mônica ends up in the arms of Do Contra.
It is worth remembering that the script for this edition is signed by the mauriciohis daughter Marina TakedaIt isSousa and the manga writer petra leon.
