Dick Van Dyke revealed he had stitches in his mouth from a car accident earlier this month and revealed how the injury came about.
“The airbags didn’t go off, so I just had a face plant right in the wheel and it made me a little bit dumber,” the 97-year-old legend joked in a clip shared by TMZ on Sunday.
The “Mary Poppins” star has fans worried after she crashed her Lexus into a gate on March 15 in Malibu, California. Firefighters treated the bloodied actor at the scene, and he did not go to the hospital, a Los Angeles sheriff’s spokesman told HuffPost.
Van Dyke, accompanied by his wife Arlene and another person during an impromptu interview in a parking lot, said he was “pretty good … just sore all over.”
“I’m 97 years old — all my friends are dead,” she said, then quipped to the videographer, “You’re not, are you?”
The “Dick Van Dyke Show” alum was recently unmasked in “The Masked Singer,” delighting fans and possibly surprising others.
“I think some people thought I was dead,” she said.
