Are Disney princesses crowned?

Find out if there’s a big celebration for being officially a Disney princess

Did you know that Disney princesses have a real-life coronation ceremony? There is a major event, which may or may not take place at the Disney parks, where characters from the studio’s most recent films that have wide popular appeal are crowned, officially becoming a member of the royal court of Walt Disney World, as well as of Disney Princesses.

After the bash, the new princess will be featured on all official Disney Princess merchandise, as well as getting her own line of merchandise. Until today we had three official coronations, which were Tiana, Rapunzel and Merida.

Tiana

The coronation of Princess Tiana, who is the protagonist of the movie “The Princess and the Frog”, featured the cast of animation in addition to the eight original Disney princesses. The celebration took place in Manhattan, at the New York Palace Hotel. She was crowned by Prince Naveen and the Fairy Godmother ended the ceremony with a grand ball.

The actress Anika Noni Rosewho voiced the princess, was at the celebration and gave a speech and the co-writers and directors of the feature, Ron Clements It is john musker were also present.

Rapunzel

On October 2, 2011, Rapunzel, the princess from the movie “Tangled”, was crowned. She became the 10th Disney princess, and her ceremony took place at Kensington Palace in London. The party featured all the princesses of the franchise, who entered in horse-drawn carriages, also including the honoree of the day. Flynn Rider was responsible for crowning the new royal with the blessing of the Fairy Godmother. And it is worth noting that she wore, for the first time, the crown that is stolen in the film.

Merida

Being the 11th princess crowned in the Disney Princess franchise, Merida had a ceremony at the Magic Kingdom, Disney’s flagship park in Orlando. The event took place on May 11, 2013, and was attended by all the princesses, being presented by Gabby Douglas. His entrance was with his faithful squire, the horse Angus, passing through the crowd that was watching the coronation. Lady Llewellyn was responsible for announcing the new princess, who was given her crown by her mother, the Queen Elinor.

Despite already being part of the franchise, Moana had a coronation planned for 2017 to make her entry into the group of princesses official, but it did not happen. Sisters Anna and Elsa, on the other hand, had a party scheduled for 2014, but that never happened, as the two became queens in the Frozen franchise.

please note that Amy Adams, gave life to Princess Giselle in “Encantada”, even had a coronation planned and won a line of products, but the studio did not reach an agreement with the actress and the event did not happen. Therefore, the character never joined the princess franchise.

Mulan and Pocahontas are princesses because of their heroic attitudes in their movies and, because of that, jane porter of “Tarzan” was also supposed to have been a princess. The ceremony to crown the character was announced in 2000, shortly after the film won an Oscar, but it never took place.
