“Daily Show” correspondent Jordan Klepper is used to being surrounded by hordes of MAGA faithful at Donald Trump events, but this week’s protest in New York in support of the former president left him rather perplexed.
Trump urged his supporters to “protest” and “take back our nation” on Tuesday when he said he would be impeached in the Stormy Daniels silence scandal.
But as Klepper found, the crowds didn’t rally, and some Trump supporters in Manhattan couldn’t dismiss it as fake news.
“What have you seen so far?” he asked one of the pro-Trump protesters.
“Absolutely nothing,” he admitted.
Klepper called it a very different kind of rally, given the crowd of “three or six people,” but found that “discussions about some key facts were refreshingly familiar.”
He then got into an extremely awkward debate with a Trump supporter who wasn’t sure Joe Biden was president:
