From feature films to series, Walt Disney planned great titles that never aired.
Beginning his career in cinema as a commercial illustrator, walt disney released almost a thousand short films and animated films during his more than 40 years as a filmmaker, screenwriter, director, voice actor, animator in the company he co-founded: Walt disney Productions.

1. Alice in Wonderland
Being turned into an animation in 1951, the novel which was written by lewis carroll, should have gotten a totally different version by Disney years ago. That’s because, the original idea was to adapt the story of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ in a way more similar to the one read on the pages, as well as including a darker touch than the one presented in the 50’s.
2. The Wizard of Oz
After the release of its first animated feature film, ‘Branca de Neve’, Disney began to turn its attention to adapting the work of L. Frank Baum: ‘The Wizard of Oz’ for the animated format. However, the wishes did not come true, as Samuel Goldwyn ended up winning the rights to the title, which he sold to Louis B Mayerthe film producer who was behind the scenes of the live-action film released in 1939 that was inspired by the book of the same name.
3. Goldilocks and the Three Bears
The popular children’s tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears also almost got a feature film, but the idea was eventually shelved by Disney. The details behind the decision were not revealed, but it is known that there is a short film starring the characters in the Silly Symphonies series.
4. Don Quixote
Imagine seeing the story of the Man of La Mancha in animation? That was the will of waltz, having as one of its possibilities to give life to the protagonist, Mickey Mouse. However, the idea of developing a feature film focused on Don Quixote never got off the ground, and is still waiting for news to this day.
5. Fantasy
It is true that ‘Fantasia’ became a feature film in 1940, even becoming one of the most important titles of the House of Mickey, as it was the first to combine animated traits with classical music, as well as contributing to the development of an innovative audio reproduction system that was called the Fantasound System.
Even so, the original idea was to turn the film into a series, where each episode should provide a different experience, as it would be like going to a new concert every time, where news and changes appear with each visit.
