This Friday, U2 released a compilation titled “Songs of Surrender’, which included 40 of his songs”reimagined and remasteredto reflect on the transformation of the Irish band and its four members after nearly 50 years of successful music careers.
The project, which will see the light on St. Patrick’s Day – the patron saint of Ireland – complements the book of memoirs Give up. 40 songs, one storypublished last year by Bono and part of an initiative by the band’s singer and guitarist The Edge himself.
Both have taken advantage of the pandemic restrictions to look back and take a deep look at some of their great songs, many of which were written when they were still teenagers.
Sixty-year-old Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullen (drums) and Adams Clayton (bass) decided to deconstruct these songs, authentic rock anthems, retouch the music and lyrics to create a much simpler and more acoustic work.
