Crossover in ‘The Last of Us’? Joel from the games appears in the series during the 8th episode

During the exhibition of the 8th episode of ‘The Last of Us’, fans of the game could observe the presence of Troy Bakeractor who lent the voice and was used as a motion capture model for the character Joel in the game developed by Naughty Dog in 2013.

However, unlike the game, in the series baker appeared as another character: James, the right-hand man of the leader of the cannibal cult, David, antagonist of Scott Shepherd, although at first, he thought he would bring a clicker to life, as revealed by the actor during the behind-the-scenes video of the episode. Look!

Playing any character is much better than I thought I would. I thought I was going to be like a clicker.”

Additionally, during an interview with Variety (via Omelete), baker commented on the performance of Pedro Pascallike Joel, and the points that make the character gain even more depth.

I’m a fan of his as an actor. He acts in a way where he appears to be so confident in his mastery over the character that he allows him to feel comfortable in his own conviction. He does everything on a razor’s edge. There is nothing wild. If you look at all of his choices, you will see that they are minimal and therefore profound. And that makes Joel, in many ways, more dangerous,” he revealed.

In addition, he highlighted a difference between the game and the series that make the character even more real:

When you’re stitching yourself up with bullets and stab wounds, you can’t say, ‘Oh, my hand still hurts.’ But in the series we could say ‘I broke my hand and it’s bruised’, with the character remaining in that state for months. For me, that’s something that helps ground the story and present it in a very tangible way to a whole new audience.”
