As International Women’s Day approaches on March 8, the book is titled Decoding women came out on the impulse of Consentis and HandsAway associations. In particular, he gives valuable tips for understanding women’s language.
In the clip Rock your what!Angel improvised as a teacher in agreement with a discussion group of several men who wanted to understand the mechanics of women. The idea, reviewed on International Women’s Day, March 8, by Consentis and HandsAway associations. They did publish a little book called Decoding womenavailable in bookshops in symbolic euro.
The 200-page book aims to “provide the basic principles of consent that we must collectively follow for a more equal, more respectful society, especially when two people are entering into a relationship,” the press release states.
But if we can expect to find valuable advice there to decipher the “indecipherable complexity of women,” this “reference Bible” actually has fun deceiving its readers. Should the rules of “consent” be hundreds of pages long when a few words sum them up? “If not yes, then no.” This simple, effective, necessary sentence is thus written on every page of the copy.
“Agreed – honest yes”
Both associations have, however, partnered with the dating app Tinder to raise awareness of gender-based and sexual violence. Thus, from March 1 (and 4 months) the platform transfers the Swipe Card to its members. This states the five main pillars of consent.
In order: “Agreement: sincere yes”; “Consent without pressure and in a simple state”; “Consent is to be informed about the risks”; “The agreement is: saying yes does not mean saying yes to everything”; “The agreement is: be able to change your mind at any time.”
In addition, the QR code redirects people looking for relationships to the HandsAway websites, the “Stop the Violence” platform, the En Avant Tous “Comment on s’aime” chat room, and the emergency number 3919, which is dedicated to: violence against women.
Sexist barometer
Remember that last January the High Council for Equality released the results of its second annual sexism barometer. In France, in 2023, 80% of women surveyed say they have been treated less well in their lifetime because of their gender. 37% say they have had non-consensual situations, including unprotected sex at the request of a partner (12%), non-consensual under the influence of alcohol or drugs (7%). An “alarming” observation that reminds us more than ever of the importance of International Women’s Day.
