The actor will play the demigod in the upcoming Disney+ series, ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’
Making Percy Jackson fans even more excited, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rick Riordanthe author of the literary saga, praised the interpretation given by the actor Walker Scobell for the demigod of the series that is in development for Disney+.
When asked about Scobell, riordan didn’t hesitate to say, “Oh my God. Walker’s Percy is totally perfect.” Soon after, he justified the praise, explaining how complicated it can be to adapt a character that appeared in books from a 1st person perspective to the screen:
I mean, it’s very difficult to take a book that is 100% told by a first-person narrator and translate it into film,” he began explaining. “So we have to figure out how to convey Percy’s personality in other ways, through of their speeches, their expressions, their actions. And Walker has this sense of alchemy.”
Soon after, the author highlighted the brilliant performance of Waker: “Everyone says this about him when they watch him perform: this kid is a superstar. The screen loves him, and he’s so good and so natural and so devoted to everything. It’s really impressive, and he’s a huge fan of the books. I kid you not, he’s read the books more times than I have.”
It is worth remembering that the recordings of ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ were finished earlier this month, and the official synopsis has already been released, which says the following: “The fantastic story of a modern 12-year-old demigod, Percy Jackson, who is just starting to get used to his supernatural powers when Zeus accuses him of stealing his thunderbolt. Now, Percy will need to cross America to find the weapon and restore order to Olympus.”
In addition to Walker Scobellthe cast will also have Leah Jeffries in the role of Annabeth Chase and Aryan Simhadri like Grover Underwood. Rick Riordanis one of the producers of the series and alongside Jonathan E. Steinbergthe showrunner of the series, signs the script for the pilot episode which will be directed by James Reel.
