The ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Character That Was Dropped and You Didn’t Know

Find out who is the character who should be one of the princess’s main helpers in ‘Beauty and the Beast’

Released in 1991, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ is part of the list of Disney animations that emerged through the books, but were adapted for the screen. This is because the original story became popular when filling the pages of the work of the same name written by the French Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont in the mid 1700’s.

Thus, as it is a narrative that was adjusted to be presented in a different format, the novel ended up undergoing some changes, one of them being the inclusion of new characters, as is the case of gastonthe villain of the plot, and the objects of the Beast’s castle, which, because they have life, are responsible for facilitating the trajectory of Beauty and the charming prince while they discover how to break the curse.

Still, what some may not know is that even after the work went through adaptation, there was a character created to be featured in the plot that ended up being discarded and having his role given to another item in the Beast’s house. If you want to find out who he is, don’t worry, RECREIO tells you right below!

Music Box comes out, Chip comes in

This happens because, originally, the character that was supposed to occupy the position of the cute and courageous supporting character that helps Belle through difficult times should be the Music Box and not Chip, the cup that is responsible for making Belle’s stay in the castle cozy and pleasant. for freeing the young woman and her father after being imprisoned by Gaston.

It is even worth mentioning that Chip was supposed to have only one line in the plot, but the decision to grant the role of the object that speaks through musical notes to the adorable cup of tea was taken due to the brilliant performance of Chip’s voice actor, Bradley Michael Piercewhich due to his performance made the film’s creators grant the character more lines of dialogue and more appearances in the story.

Even though the role of the Music Box was changed to that of Chip, it is quickly present in the film, almost as a nod to what the character could mean. That’s because, she appears on screen for a few seconds during the final clash of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ alongside Lumiére.

Despite its role being switched, the Music Box was resurrected in a short-lived comic book series set before the events of ‘Beauty and the Beast’. In the edition in question, the origin of the character is explained and tells that unlike the other items that were part of the Beast’s castle, the Music Box was never human, but a very special object for the Prince victim of the curse: the toy Beast’s favourite.
