Bella Ramsey talks about how her gender fluidity affects her work, from the characters she plays to the clothes she wears.
The last of usstar, which came out as non-binary last monthsaid GQ in a profile posted Monday that she wore a chest binder for “90 percent” of filming on HBO’s hit sci-fi drama.
“Which is probably not healthy, like please tie it up tight,” said Ramsey, who opted for his first name while speaking with the magazine. She added that the bond allowed her to feel more focused on set.

Ramsey told GQ that her “Last of Us” co-star Pedro Pascal, whose sister is transgender, was “very supportive” of how he identified. Ramsey said the two often had conversations about gender and sexuality while working together.

“And they weren’t always deep — they could be fun and humorous, the whole spectrum. We were just very honest and open with each other,” she said.
In recent remarks, the former “Game of Thrones” actor exemplified how being non-binary is not a unique identity. While speaking with The New York Times in January, Ramsey said she “really couldn’t care less” about the pronouns people use for her.
She echoed that sentiment in her conversation with GQ, noting that something else people do is a bigger annoyance.
“That bothers me more than pronouns: being called ‘Miss’ or ‘Mrs. Strong,’ ‘Miss,'” Ramsey said, adding, “I’m just not [that].”
She also told GQ that while she doesn’t identify as a woman, she’s completely comfortable playing “female characters” — whether in dresses or corsets — because it gives her “the ability to be something so opposite of me, and it’s so entertaining. ” . “
