The famous Valentine’s Day (Dia do São Valentim), or simply Valentine’s Day, is celebrated on February 14 mainly in the United States and Europe, but the date is also recognized in Brazil. The day is dedicated to the celebration of love and the people we love.
So, how about celebrating the date with a movie session at the cinema or at home and remembering the most iconic couples in fiction? The classic romance “Titanic” is playing on the big screen in 4K 3D HDR in celebration of the 25 years since its launch in 1998, but other famous pop culture pairs await you on Disney+ and Star+.
1. Jack and Rose (Titanic) — Now showing in theaters
Rose (Kate Winslet) is a rich young woman who meets Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio), a poor adventurous artist, during the voyage on the Titanic, the largest ship in the world. Although Rose’s family cares a lot about money and social status, the couple ends up falling madly in love along the way until a fatal tragedy breaks their exciting story.
2. Aladdin and Jasmine (Aladdin) — Available on Disney+

Aladdin (Mena Massoud) is a humble young man who falls in love with Jasmine (Naomi Scott), an already engaged princess. To help with the conquest, Aladdin asks for help from the Genie of the Lamp (Will Smith) who can grant the wish of becoming a rich young man to catch the princess’s love and conquer her father. In addition to the live-action, the animated version of the film is also available on Disney+.
3. Lady and the Tramp (Lady and the Tramp) — Available on Disney+

“Lady and the Tramp” features an upper-middle-class American cocker spaniel named Lady (Tessa Thompson) who meets a downtown stray Schnauzer named Vagabundo (Justin Theroux). The two embark on many romantic dates and adventures, including the iconic spaghetti kiss scene. Like “Aladdin”, the story is available in cartoon and live-action versions.
4. Troy and Gabriella (High School Musical) — Available on Disney+

Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) is a popular basketball player at East High, and his life is turned upside down when Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens) entered college. After falling in love with the newcomer, Troy joins the Theater Club and now has to deal with the prejudice of his sports colleagues, while fighting for his love for singing and for the girl. The couple remains together, between comings and goings, until the third film in the franchise.
5. Zed and Addison (Zombies) — Available on Disney+

Zed (Milo Manheim) is a zombie who is transferred to study at a school filled with humans, including Addison (Meg Donnelly), a young woman who dreams of becoming a cheerleader. Together, they decide to work together to show their peers what they can gain by embracing differences. The franchise features three films, all available on Disney+.
6. Jack and Rebecca (This is Us) — Available on Star+

There’s no way to talk about the best couples without mentioning Jack and Rebecca, from “This is Us”. The series revolves around the Pearsons family with Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) being the parents of the triplets (big three): Kate (Chrissy Metz), Kevin (Justin Hartley) and Randall (Sterling K. Brown). During the couple’s trajectory, it is possible to follow the ups and downs of a relationship emphasizing the traditions for the union of the family and the couple themselves. They are examples of parents and how love is the basis for everything.
7. Marge and Homer (The Simpsons) — Available on Star+

One of the most famous couples in the animation world is Marge and Homer Simpsons. Parents of Bart, Lisa and Maggie, the couple has a loving partnership for many years, becoming an example of a relationship during all 33 seasons of the series.
8. Jess and Nick (New Girl) — Available on Star+

Being an example of a couple called “Friends to Lovers” (friends for lovers), Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (jake johnson) are friends who share the same apartment. They end up developing chemistry and become a couple over the seasons. Even with breakups, Nick and Jess show that true love always prevails.
9. Meredith and Derek (Grey’s Anatomy) — Available on Star+

It’s impossible to end this list without mentioning Meredith and Derek! Some say they were the best couple on “Grey’s Anatomy”. After spending a night together, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) discovers that Derek (Patrick Dempsey) was one of the doctors at the hospital who would start his residency. After much back and forth, the couple finally decides to stay together and start a family, adopting Zola (Aniela Gumbs) and having two more children later. Even with all the problems of a life together, love always spoke louder and the couple stays together until — literally — death do them apart, when Derek dies in season 11.
