Christina Applegate has revealed that the upcoming Screen Actors Guild Awards could mark an incredibly emotional milestone in her career, thanks to her recent diagnosis of multiple sclerosis.
“It’s probably my last awards show as an actor, so it’s a big deal,” the actor said in a new interview with the Los Angeles Times published Tuesday.
Applegate is nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Comedy Series at the ceremony, marking her sixth nomination.
The actor, who recently wrapped the latest season of his Netflix hit Dead To Me, told the outlet that he couldn’t “imagine waking up at 5am and spending 12 to 14 hours on set; I don’t have it in me right now.”
Applegate admitted that she actually had a hard time watching the last season of the show because she “doesn’t like to see me struggle.”

“I also gained 40 pounds from inactivity and medication, and I didn’t look or feel like myself,” the actor said.
“At some point I was able to distance myself from my ego and realize how beautiful television is. All the scenes I wasn’t in were so fun to see and experience for the first time,” she added.
As for the future, the “Anchorman” star said she’s “doing a lot of voiceovers to make money to make sure my daughter is fed and we’re home.”
Applegate publicly disclosed her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in August 2021.
This disease, which affects the brain and spinal cord, can include symptoms such as leg and body weakness, fatigue, slurred speech, vision loss and dizziness.
