Find out what is the exact length of Rapunzel’s hair, the princess of ‘Tangled’
In the year 2010, the Walt Disney Animation Studios was launching its 50th animated film, “Tangled”, a feature film inspired by the tale of Rapunzel, from the Brothers Grimma princess with long hair who is imprisoned in a tower until she is saved by Prince Charming.
According to the New York Film Academy, “Tangled” is the most expensive animated feature ever produced in film history, with a budget of $260 million and a profit of approximately $592 million. In addition, the production ranks fifth on the list of the most expensive films in the world, including animations and live-action.
For Disney animation, the tale received some adaptations. In the feature, Rapunzel dreams of breaking free from the tower where she was imprisoned by Gothel, an old woman who uses the powers of the princess’s hair to stay young, not knowing that the girl is wanted in a kingdom not too far away.
However, something striking in the story that has not been changed are the princess’s long locks, which both in the film and in the work of the Brothers Grimm they were also used so that people could climb the huge tower. But, have you ever wondered what the real size of that hair is?

Yep, Disney has Rapunzel’s exact hair length number — and it manages to be more impressive than you might think.
According to the studio’s official website, the princess has more than 100,000 strands on her head, exactly 20 meters long, which, if placed next to each other, end to end, would add up to approximately 300 kilometers.
As reflected by the Rolling Stone portal, for Disney to be able to animate all these strands, it was necessary to create a new technology exclusively to be able to animate the movement of the strands since, until then, no character had been produced with that much hair. It was in this way that “Tangled” became the first Walt Disney Studios production to use CGI.
