It seems that Liam Neeson has had enough of professional wrestling, especially Conor McGregor.
The “Taken” star admitted as much in an interview Thursday with Men’s Health. While promoting his latest film Marlowe, the 70-year-old Irishman also talked about Star Wars and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), which he likened to a bar fight.
“UFC, I can’t stand it,” he told the media. “To me it’s like a bar fight. I know the practitioners say, “No, you’re wrong – the months of training we do…” Why don’t you take a beer bottle and hit the other guy in the head? This is the next phase of the UFC.”
Neeson reiterated his “hate” for the sport before focusing on one fighter.
“Little leprechaun Conor McGregor is giving Ireland a bad name,” he told Men’s Health. “I know he’s fit and I admire him for that. But I can’t stand it.”
Neeson’s disdain for the sport is apparently rooted in the expected violence. While millions tune in regularly to enjoy the dominance of each fight — the UFC was bought for $4 billion in 2016 — not everyone is a fan of McGregor’s antics outside the ring.

The former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion amassed a troubling criminal record that previously consisted of relatively minor traffic offenses before pleading guilty to assault in 2018 – and was charged the same year with rape in a Dublin hotel.
It is unclear whether Neeson is familiar with these matters. Finally, he entertained Men’s Health with his skill set — tying “really good fly fishing knots” and boiling eggs — before simply replying about his interest in returning to Star Wars “.
However, he told the station about his first day on the set of ‘The Phantom Menace’ and said he and Ewan McGregor were simultaneously ‘dzhhhhhewww’ when they had to use their lightsaber – only for George Lucas to intervene.
“George Lucas said, ‘You don’t have to do the sound effects; we put them in later,’” Neeson said. “We felt like fools.”
