5 Disney Channel movies that deserved a reboot

Being responsible for numerous productions that have marked the lives of several generations of young people around the world, Disney Channel has a vast catalog of original films that are loved by the public to this day.

Some of them, however, despite having super fun plots, ended up not receiving as much attention since their launch, and deserved a second chance. Thinking about it, Recreio separated a list of 5 Disney Channel features that deserved a reboot. Check out!

1. Wendy Wu: The Kung Fu Girl (2006)

starring Brenda Songactress known for playing London Tipton in the Zack & Cody franchise, “Wendy Wu: The Kung Fu Girl” tells the story of Wendy, a teenager who has the perfect life until she discovers that she is the reincarnation of the Yin warrior, and is destined to defeat the fearsome villain Yal-Lo, who seeks to destroy the world.

A reboot of the film would be perfect to present the story to a new audience, in addition to raising the possibility of going a little deeper into the history of some characters.

2. Pixel — The Perfect Girl (2004)

In “Pixel — The Perfect Girl”, Roscoe (Ricky Ullman) decides to use his father’s technology to help his friend Samantha’s band (Leah Pipes), which is not receiving recognition. In this way, he creates Loretta Modern (Spencer Redford), a hologram singer who leads the group to stardom, but causes problems among her peers.

Since its launch, the world has gone through great technological advances that, if present in the film, can make it even richer. Furthermore, with a reboot, important debates about humanity and independence would be presented to a new generation.

3. Jump In! (2007)

Released in 2007, “Jump In!” tells the story of young Izzy Daniels (Corbin Bleu), who dreams of fulfilling his father’s wish to become a professional boxer. However, he ends up torn when he discovers a passion for double jumping ropes when he joins the team of his neighbor Mary Thomas (Keke Palmer).

Performing a reboot of the film would be interesting mainly due to the discussions present in the plot, such as that sports are made for all people, regardless of their differences.

4. Zenon: The Girl of the 21st Century (1999)

Spanning two films, the Zenon franchise takes place in the year 2049, and follows the adventures of Zenon Kar (Kirsten Storms), a girl who, after getting into trouble on the space station where she lives with her family, is sent to live with her aunt on planet Earth and will need the help of her earthling friends to return home.

As in “Pixel — The Perfect Girl”, a reboot of the feature would be great to update the technologies mentioned in the films, since space travel is currently on the rise.

5. Johnny Tsunami — The Snow Surfer (1999)

Johnny Kapahala (Brandon Baker) is a 13-year-old from Hawaii who has surfing in his veins. In addition to being the grandson of a legendary surfer, the boy is also about to become champion of a tournament, when his family needs to move to Vermont after a job proposal from his father. Now, instead of water and heat, the boy has to deal with snow and cold, and resolve conflicts between himself and the skiers and snowboarders.

Despite being a plot much loved by the audience of the Disney Channel in the early 2000s, the film could gain a new face with a current retelling, making a new audience fall in love with Johnny’s adventures.
