Attorney General Merrick Garland (Mikey Day) was introduced on “Saturday Night Live” as a squeaky-voiced lawman who knows full well that he looks and acts like he was “born in a library.”
However, he chillingly announces in a mock press conference, “I I have The law.”
“Garland” featured a series of FBI agents coming back with reports after descending on the homes of Mike Pence, Vice President Kamala Harris and even Barack Obama hunting down classified documents.
Pence, who was “desperately in need of a friend,” greeted the officers and offered to make them pancakes, said “Special Agent” Kenan Thompson. But when they discovered her magazine clippings of country star Shania Twain, she confessed: “I’m sorry, I’m disgusting.”
A fanboy agent played by Bowen Yang had a great time at Obama’s house, where the former president happily ignored a call from Beyoncé and explained that he “got out of the government game and is doing the Hollywood thing.”
“I don’t want to brag, but I’ve been to Barack Obama’s house!” Yang said. “Was really amusement.”
He “opened the door and said, ‘Do you sell Girl Scout cookies?’ which caused us to collapse and, like, completely dead,” Yang beamed.
The sketch ended with a nod to the horror of the fatal police beating of 29-year-old Tire Nichols during a traffic stop in Memphis, Tennessee. Footage of the attack was released by the city on Friday.
“Hey boss, when we’re done playing these little cards, we’re going to go to Memphis and make sure justice is served there too, right?” Thompson asked.
Day replied: “I hope so.
