Will the origin of fungi be explained? Series creators respond

In the second episode of the new HBO Max series ‘The Last Of Us’, which aired last Sunday, the 22nd, a ‘zombie fungus’ caught the attention of viewers.

In an interview with Variety, reported by the website Omelete, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmannthe creators of the new HBO Max production, have commented in detail whether one day the companions of the series will know the origin of the fungus and about the conception of the threat.

When asked about the new threat, Neil commented on different aspects of the series and the game, and even highlighted its entire universe. In the interview, Druckmann said, “Here, we have the ability to stop relying solely on the perspective of these characters [Sarah, Joel e Ellie] and show some other things, but it was always important to never say, ‘OK, here’s patient zero, the exact origin’. A lot of it is tip-based.”

Still, Neil continued: “Craig he came to me with his million questions, like ‘How did this stuff spread?’ We had a tip in the game, in the newspaper that you pick up as Sarah, where it hints that there were a lot of contaminated products. So we talked about how it would spread, where it would start and other points.”

During the interview with Variety, Druckmann even said that the second episode, which aired yesterday, revealed more about the series premiere episode: “where we hinted at things that would have been very different for the Millers if they had made those pancakes. Now, we can see a little more about how this thing started”.

HBO Max’s new production includes names such as Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Nick Offerman, Anna Torv, Gabriel Luna, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett and Storm Reid.
