The colors of the celebration this year will be blue and yellow – the colors of the Ukrainian flag. The event will take place from 16 to 26 February 2023.
At the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival, the audience will see a film about the Russian war in Ukraine, shot by the famous Hollywood actor and director Sean Penn. Various people write about it.
It is noted that this is a special screening of the tape called Superpower – Superpower. The film will release on 24th February.
“Penn was in Kyiv making a film with Zelensky when the war broke out in Ukraine. The reality forced the film to become something less comfortable and more meaningful. We are very grateful to Sean Penn and the whole team for choosing of the Berlinale to screen this film,” – said art director of the Berlinale Carlo Chatrian.
This is a documentary. Penn worked on it with producer and director Aaron Kaufman. The feed shows footage shot in Ukraine in November 2021, episodes with Zelensky, and life in Kyiv at the beginning of the war.
“The Berlin Film Festival will take place exactly one year after the war, and perhaps the screening of this film in Berlin is more relevant than anywhere else, because we are close to Ukraine, because Ukrainians live in Berlin, and also because political value of this film. For me, Superpower – I know it will get a lot of attention – is a great gateway that will allow you to enter a very complex, detailed description of what happened and is still happening in Ukraine at the moment, ” – added Shatrian.
Recall that the Mavka cartoon, considered the most expensive in the history of Ukrainian cinema, will appear on the screens on March 2, 2023. This moment has been waiting for seven years.
