“SNL’s” Amy Poehler and host Aubrey Plaza brought the iconic “Parks & Recreation” characters back to life during an appearance on Poehler’s old playgrounds on “Weekend Update.”
Anchor Colin Jost premiered Plaza, which hosted and played April Ludgate on the hit NBC series, during Saturday’s segment. Plaza, in character, told Jost that young people could “get a job as a street sweeper or something” to get involved in local government.
“…Because when you work for local government, doing the bare minimum does your part,” Plaza said.
Plaza later introduced Jost to his “old boss” Amy Poehler, who plays Leslie Knope on “Parks & Recreation,” and asked if anyone knew there were “cameras on ‘SNL’.”
Then he brought on Seth Meyers, whom he anchored on “Weekend Update” in the late ’00s.
“He made it look really easy,” she said.
She was later given permission by Jost to “try to tell a joke” in her seat, in a nod to her time in the segment.
