Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have long been one of Hollywood’s hottest couples, but Bell’s seemingly missed date with another heartthrob made headlines this week.
In a recent episode of Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast, John Stamos revealed that he almost dated Bell long before she married Shepard.
“I just got divorced [from Rebecca Romijn]. It was an awards show or a party or an after party or something,” Stamos explained. “And my publicist… goes, ‘There’s this girl who wants to meet you. You must know her. He’s at the theater. Funny, you two would look great together. It was Kristen.
The “Full House” actor’s recognition drew Shepard and co-host Monica Padman. However, he quickly clarified that he felt he was “too old” for Bell, who is 17 years his junior.
“I was so tall and I thought, ‘I’m old.’ But then I got over it,” he joked, alluding to the 23-year age difference between himself and his now-wife, Caitlin McHugh Stamos.

Although Stamos did not specify the exact time frame of the meeting, he and Romijn ended their seven-year marriage in 2005. Meanwhile, Shepard began dating Bell in 2007.
Fortunately, everything seems to have worked out in everyone’s favor. Stamos started dating McHugh Stamos in 2015, about four years after they first met on the set of “Law & Order: SVU.” The couple married in 2018 and welcomed son Billy, now 4, that same year.
Bell and Shepard, meanwhile, tied the knot in 2013. The couple share daughters Lincoln, 9, and Delta, 8.
Later in the podcast, Stamos talked about meeting McHugh Stamos for the first time.
“I said, ‘I’m going to put 100 percent into this.’ If it doesn’t work, that’s fine, but at least I know this route,” he said. “Being in this moment is exhausting, but it feels great.”
