Prince Harry revealed what he missed most about life in the “institution” in the latest episode of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix series Harry and Meghan.
“I miss the odd family reunion when we’re all together under one roof, you know, at certain times of the year. Which I miss,” he said. “You know, being part of the establishment meant I was in the UK, so I miss the UK, my friends.”
The Duke added that between his and Meghan Markle’s decision to retire and move to California, he “also lost a few friends in the process.”
He also explained that he moved to Montecito in Santa Barbara “because I had changed.”
“I have changed to the point where I have outgrown my environment. So that was the obvious place to come,” he said, adding that it was also a place where his late mother, Princess Diana, “would probably end up living, potentially.”
“There are times when I’ve been angry, but I can’t be that angry because I feel like I — and we — are exactly where we should be,” she said. “We’ve made it to the other side.”
Harry’s revelations will continue as the Duke of Sussex’s highly-anticipated memoir, ‘Spare’, is released on January 10.
“I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that by telling my story — ups and downs, mistakes, lessons learned — I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think,” the royal said in a press release announcing his new book, adding that he was “delighted that people are reading a first-hand account of my life that is accurate and completely truthful.”
