Russian President Lukoil announced his departure from the company

The head of the Russian oil company Lukoil, Vagit Alekperov, announced his decision to relinquish his powers as a member of the board of directors, as well as his early resignation as president of the company. On Thursday, April 21, Russian media reported.

It is indicated that on March 31, Alekperov owned and disposed of votes related to 3.12% of the shares of Lukoil. He also has a lucrative economic interest (including through family trusts or mutual funds) in a 5.43% stake in the company, for which he has no voting rights.

Vagit Alekperov has served as president of Lukoil since 1993. In April of this year, it was learned that Alekperov had been sanctioned by Great Britain and Australia.

It was also reported that in February, Vagit Alekperov lost $ 5.4 billion per day against the backdrop of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
