Belarus has $68.43 million in overdue payments and $967 million in principal.
All loans from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), given to Belarus or guaranteed by it, were transferred to the category of non-performing loans. This is what the World Bank announced.
“This action was carried out in accordance with the established procedure of the World Bank, according to which all loans given to the country or guaranteed by it become non-performing if the payment on any loan is overdue for more than six months ,” the statement said.
As of October 14, Belarus’s overdue payments reached $68.43 million. The principal amount of Belarus’ outstanding loans is $967 million, or 0.42% of the total amount of outstanding WB loans.
It is known that the IBRD did not approve a new loan to Minsk from May 2020. And on March 2, 2022, the World Bank stopped all its programs in Belarus.
In June, it became known that Belarus will repay its Eurobond debts in Belarusian rubles. And in August, the S&P agency announced Belarus’ default on Eurobonds.
