According to Moody’s, the Peruvian economy will grow by just 2.5% this year due to lower private investment.
As stated at the press conference, economic forecasts for Peru, they do not improve due to a reduction in production of up to 15%.
Jaime Reusche, senior vice president of credit and chief analyst at Moody’s, explained that this drop is due to several reasons, one of which is export prices, which the government itself did not take advantage of when they rose, and negative political factors.
Reusche points out that private investment especially because there is no coherence between the reactivation plan presented by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the political discourse of our authorities.
A Moody’s spokesman said the government must act immediately, showing support for the private sector and seeking harmony with the political class. Otherwise, forecasts will remain low.
What is expected next year?
By 2023, Moody’s expects GDP growth of 3% and contraction investments public new powers that suggest; in addition to the drop in non-mining investments which for this 2022 will close at 1.5% although they are revisiting it and it is likely to fall below that index.
