“The European Union, together with the EIB, will help Ukraine restore its energy infrastructure. Today, the European Investment Bank transferred an additional 550 million euros to our country. The funds will help, in particular, to cover the costs to repair damaged energy infrastructure facilities and maintain the stability of the Ukrainian electricity grid. Aid will also be directed to the restoration of municipal and basic services to the population in the communities,” Shmyhal wrote on Telegram.
He added that in just two months, as part of the Emergency Support Package from the EIB and the European Commission, Ukraine received 1.05 billion euros, and another 540 million euros will be paid through the continuation of financing for joint ventures project.
“We expect the EIB and the EU to be among the leaders in large-scale post-war reconstruction, economic renewal and infrastructure development financing in our country,” the prime minister summed up.
According to the Ministry of Finance, since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Ukraine has received about $19.4 billion in financial aid from foreign partners, with about $11 billion more expected by the end of the year.
