The country has moved from a raw material economic model to a food one, said Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Taras Vysotsky.
The war became a factor in accelerating the export of dairy products to Ukraine. Also, the country began to actively develop meat production, the sphere of alternative energy sources and the processing of grain crops. This was stated by the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Taras Vysotsky, the press service of the department reported on Monday, September 26.
“Looking at the results of the work of the agricultural sector during the 7 months of the war, we see that the point of no return to the raw material model has been passed. What does this confirm? First of all, everyone understood – agricultural producers, farmers who are very risky to concentrate on one or two oilseeds. And there should be a clear difference,” he explained.
According to the official, Ukraine is currently increasing the volume of exports of dairy products. In particular, according to the results of August, the export of dairy products showed a high record in the past two years.
The number of industrial pig and poultry breeding in the country is also increasing. The deputy explained this, first of all, by cheaper feed.
Vysotsky added that Ukrainian farmers are investing in bioenergy.
“The sector has realized that it is more profitable to produce alternative sources of energy – bioethanol, biogas, biomethane – than simply selling raw materials and then buying natural gas at a high price for drying corn,” the official record.
He said that another area that is actively developing in Ukraine is a deeper processing of grain crops: the production of flour, ready-made pasta, amino acids.
As reported, for the first time in 10 years, Ukraine will harvest 1.5 times more buckwheat than the domestic consumer needs.
It should be noted that according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, Ukraine harvested more than 30 million tons of grain.
