Once received, EU funds are used to mitigate the economic consequences of the war in Russia.
Five billion euros of macro-financial assistance from the European Union will be used to finance the priority needs of the state budget, the Ministry of Finance reported on Thursday, September 15.
“Additional EU funding will help ease the economic consequences of Russia’s devastating war against our state,” said Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko.
The total amount of EU macro-financial assistance provided to Ukraine will reach 12.21 billion euros (including the eighth EU macro-financial assistance and loans already received by Ukraine in 2014-2022 under the previous seven programs) .
Recall that today the European Parliament approved the proposal of the European Commission to allocate 5 billion euros to Ukraine as a second tranche of 9 billion euros.
Earlier this week it became known that before the end of the year, the EU plans to allocate an additional 3 billion euros to Kyiv.
