The authorities of both countries are working to replace Russian gas in Europe and alleviate the energy crisis.
Some countries have expressed their desire to contribute to easing the energy crisis in Europe. Thus, Israel will be able to provide the EU with approximately 10% of the amount of gas that Europe received from Russia in 2021, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid said. He met on Monday, September 12, in Berlin with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

“We will engage in efforts to replace Russian gas in Europe,” Lapid said after the meeting.
Scholz pointed out that Germany is working on creating an infrastructure that will allow it to receive raw materials from new partners while rejecting Russian supplies.
In June, Israel and Egypt signed an agreement in Cairo – in the presence of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen – on the supply of liquefied natural gas to Europe. Israel has to deliver gas to neighboring Egypt, where the raw materials will be converted into a liquid state, then tankers will deliver them to Europe.
Azerbaijan to supply 30% more natural gas to the EU by the end of the year
In turn, Azerbaijan said that by the end of the year they plan to supply 30% more natural gas to the EU than in 2021.

“The total volume of deliveries to Europe in 2022 will reach 12 billion cubic meters,” Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov wrote on Twitter.
In August, production increased by nearly 10% and reached 30.6 billion cubic meters, he added.
Brussels in July agreed with Baku on doubling gas imports from Azerbaijan in the coming years. There are also plans to expand the gas corridor that passes through Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and Greece. The pipeline capacity is planned to increase to 20 billion cubic meters per year.
The European Union is well prepared for a possible complete cessation of Russian gas supplies. This statement was made on September 3 by the European Commissioner for Economics, Paolo Gentiloni, on the sidelines of the economic forum in the Italian city of Cernobbio.
At the same time, he stressed that the EU is actively pumping gas into its storage facilities and taking measures to save energy.
“We are not afraid of Putin’s decisions,” Gentiloni said, adding that the EU requires Russia to abide by the agreements and is “ready to respond” otherwise.
Before this, on September 2, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, spoke in favor of introducing a fixed maximum price for the purchase of Russian gas in the European Union – the so-called “price ceiling”.
