The restriction on the amount of “blue fuel” from the Russian Federation should be introduced now, believes Ursula von der Leyen.
Prices for Russian pipeline gas going to Europe should be capped. This was said by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, according to Focus.
He noted that this issue is planned to be discussed at the talks of the heads of the EU energy ministries on September 9.
Von der Leyen cited as an example plans to impose a price ceiling on Russian oil. At the same time, the European official admitted that not all countries will take such a step.
“But those who try to undermine the price cap will need ships and insurance,” he said.
The President of the European Commission also assessed that gas storage facilities in the EU are now full against the backdrop of a possible gas shutdown.
The words of the head of the European Commission were commented by the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev.
“It will be like oil. There will only be no Russian gas in Europe,” he assured.
Remember, according to Gazprom’s estimates, in 2022 gas demand fell by 40 billion cubic meters.
Gas is becoming cheaper because European countries filled storage facilities on average 80%, although this indicator was only planned for November.
