At the end of July, Ukraine imported more than 4.3 million tons of coal, while for the whole of last year – more than 19.5 million tons.
During the seven months of 2022, coal imports to Ukraine decreased by 2.7 times. Compared to the same period last year, coal supplies fell to 4 million 308.5 thousand tons, according to customs data.

In total, coal was delivered to Ukraine in the amount of $1 billion 27.466 million, which is 11.5% less than a year earlier.
Most coal was imported from the Russian Federation – $420.589 million (share in imports 40.92%), followed by the United States – $277.972 million (27.05%), Australia – $100.235 million (9.76%), from other countries country – $228.67 million ( 22.26%).
At the same time, Ukraine exported 450.6 thousand tons of coal for $145.917 million.
Recall that last year Ukraine imported almost 19.6 million tons of coal – 15.4% more than in 2020. Almost $2.5 billion (+47.2%) was spent on the purchase of coal.
Earlier, the Cabinet announced the most difficult heating season. At the same time, Ukraine has already prepared 1.5 million tons of coal. The government plans to increase coal reserves to 2 million tons by the beginning of winter.
