Ukrainian banks for the first time since the beginning of the war entered the plus

In January-July 2022, the income of solvent banks exceeded the cost by almost four million.

In January-July 2022, the net income of solvent Ukrainian banks reached UAH 3.407 billion. For the first time since March, the banking system became profitable. This follows from the data of the National Bank of Ukraine.

So, according to the NBU, the income of banks for January-July 2022 reached UAH 189.082 billion, expenses – UAH 185.675 billion.

According to the NBU, banks have built up a large amount of reserves for expected losses due to the consequences of the war. Allocations to reserves increased 12 times compared to January-June 2021 – up to UAH 73.560 billion.

Earlier it was reported that for the first time in five years, Ukrainian banks ended the first half of the year with losses.

Recall that last year Ukrainian banks received a record profit – UAH 77.530 billion, which is 95.2% more than in 2020 (UAH 39.727 billion).
