“Everything indicates that in the fourth quarter this pipeline will begin to work, but not 100% of capacity, but by 30-38%. Let’s fill this level completely, it will be approximately about 800 million cubic meters,” said PGNIG Vice. President Robert Perkovsky at a press conference.
According to him, it is both gas of its own production and obtained under additional contracts.
“We are always in the process of negotiations on the subjects of gas production on the Norwegian continental shelf,” he said.
Perkovsky expressed confidence that Poland will have enough gas this winter, there should not be a deficit in the country.
The opening ceremony of the Baltic Pip is planned for September 27. Access to the full capacity of the gas pipeline with a maximum throughput of 10 billion cubic meters per year – from January 1, 2023.
It will be remembered that in March in Denmark, after a break of nine months, they restarted the construction of the Baltic Pip, which should connect the gas fields in Norway and Poland.
As you know, Poland will no longer buy gas from the Russian Federation. The contract with Gazprom will expire in December 2022. Poland has been preparing for it for six years, the country’s authorities assured.
It was also reported that from April 27, Gazprom stopped gas supply to Poland ahead of schedule due to refusal to pay for gas in rubles.
