To implement the government’s plan, it is necessary to import 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas, which is almost unrealistic at the current price.
Naftogaz is unlikely to fulfill the task of the Cabinet of Ministers to accumulate 19 billion cubic meters of gas during the heating season. This was said by the head of the company Yuri Vitrenko in an interview with NV.
Currently, there is only 12.3 billion cubic meters of storage. m. About one billion cubic meters per month can provide domestic production. But we still need to import 4.5 billion cubic meters.
“It is unrealistic to pump a total of 19 billion cubic meters of gas during the heating season. Given the high prices and huge sums of money needed to finance such imports. And there are already technological restrictions on how much gas per day can be imported and how much can be pumped. There is a theoretical possibility, but nothing practical,” said Vitrenko.
At the same time, he assures that the smaller gas supply will not be critical.
“It is important that this additional 4-6 billion cubic meters of gas is available during the warming period. Having more gas in storage is not a panacea, as there is limited capacity for lifting gas from in storage. more effective, ” explained Vitrenko.
As a last resort, according to him, gas can be imported in the winter, but at a very high price.
A month ago, Naftogaz said that Ukraine needed $8 billion to reach the targets set by the Cabinet of Ministers. But then a thousand cubic meters of gas cost less than a thousand dollars, and now – more than 2.5 thousand dollars.
