Since the beginning of the year, the regulator has sold more than $16 billion and almost 1.8 billion euros in the interbank market.
The National Bank of Ukraine sold $521.69 million in the interbank foreign exchange market during the last working week from August 8 to 12. This was confirmed by the regulator’s data on Monday, August 15.

At the same time, the NBU bought $93.40 million in the interbank market. As a result, the negative balance of interventions for the week reached $428.29 million.
Thus, the central bank sold the currency in large volumes for the second week in a row. On August 8, a sale of over $490 million was reported.
In total, since the beginning of 2022, the NBU bought $2,876.51 million and EUR 110.97 million in the interbank market. At the same time, the regulator sold 16,053.75 million dollars and 1,789.11 million euros.
The negative balance of interventions amounted to USD 13,177.24 million and EUR 1,678.14 million.
Recall that in July the value of Ukraine’s international reserves decreased by $416.77 million (by 1.8%) to $22,385.38 million. Compared to June ($2,300.09 million), the reduction in reserves slowed down more than five times.
