More than 90% of Ukraine’s GDP warrant holders support a postponement and new conditions for debt repayments.
Almost all holders of Ukraine’s GDP warrants approved Kyiv’s proposal to postpone payments, Interfax-Ukraine reported on Tuesday, August 9.
According to the exchange agreement, the offer was accepted by approximately 91% of the holders of GDP warrants.
“Ukraine has received the Necessary permissions in favor of the Emergency Decision,” the statement said.
But these are only preliminary results, and the final results will be announced tomorrow.
Also at Wednesday’s meeting, a proposal to postpone payments on Eurobonds of Ukraine and state-owned companies under state guarantees will be considered.
Recall that in July, a group of creditors of Ukraine from the G7 countries and members of the Paris Club of creditors agreed to postpone the payment of principal and interest until the end of this year, and also give the opportunity to extend the postponement for another year – until 2024.
According to the Ministry of Finance, this will give Ukraine the opportunity to use the saved five billion dollars for urgent needs.
