During the year, it is necessary to export about 70 million tons of agricultural products – about 5 million tons per month.
Ukraine must export at least 5 million tons of grain per month to take stock of last year’s harvest and the current one. This was stated by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Nikolai Solsky.
“We still have about 18-19 million tons left from last season. That means we have to export about 70 million tons of products in the year, until the next harvest. This is about 5 million tons per month . The figure is big. , but it is familiar to the Ukrainian business and related authorities. They will deal with it if they do not interfere,” he said.
Solsky recalled that the forecast for the 2022 harvest was increased from 60 million tons to 65-67 million tons. About 50 million tons of this crop is to be exported.
The minister noted that in July, even without unblocking the ports, it was possible to increase the export of agricultural products to 3 million tons.
It should be noted that in 2021/2022 MY, Ukraine exported 48.51 million tons of grain and leguminous crops, which is 8.4% higher than the previous MY. And since the beginning of the 2022/2023 marketing year (July-June), Ukraine has exported 1.87 million tons of grain, which is almost two times less than last year.
It will be recalled that on July 22, an agreement was signed in Istanbul on the launch of a “grain corridor” from Ukraine. It started on August 1. Ukraine hopes to significantly increase grain exports – by about $10 billion.
