Indecopi announced that it has begun monitoring and following up on Operadora Peruana de Cines SAC, also known as Cinepolislearning that he would restrict the entry of food into his rooms.
The movie theater chain would have prohibited its patrons from entering its premises with food and drink other than those sold by the company, the statement said.
“For this purpose, the institution sent him a letter indicating that such restrictions may constitute unfair conditionsgiving him two business days to report on the actions he will take in this regard,” they said.
The agency says cases like this have been resolved before with chains such as Cinemark and Cineplanet, and it has been determined that consumers can enter premises with the same foods and drinks sold in both chains’ candy stores.
“We urge providers of this paragraph, take into account the previously prescribed by the institution in connection with similar cases and stop such practice,” the message says.
In addition, Indecopi reminded that citizens have the right to condemn actions of this kind.
