Against the generally depressing background of indicators for the first half of the year, Gazprom reports an alleged increase in gas exports to China.
Russian gas monopoly Gazprom sent 75.3 billion cubic meters of gas for export to non-CIS countries in the six months of 2022. Compared to the same period last year, exports decreased by 34.7% or 40 billion cubic meters, the company’s press service reported on Telegram on Monday, August 1.

The demand for gas in the domestic Russian market also decreased by 2% or 3 billion cubic meters.
In just six months, Gazprom produced 262.4 billion cubic meters of gas. This is 12% or 25.8 billion cubic meters less than last year.
Against this sad background, Gazprom reports an alleged increase in gas exports to China through the Power of Siberia gas pipeline under a long-term contract with CNPC – by 60.9 % in seven months.
“In July, deliveries regularly exceeded the daily contract volume, while the historical record for daily export volume was updated three times,” said Gazprom, but did not provide specific figures for deliveries in cubic meters.
Remember that in 2022 the European Union will cut Russian gas imports. If before the start of the Russian war against Urkaina, the share of Russian energy resources in the EU was 40%, now it has decreased to 20%.
