Since the end of June, Ukraine has been supplying 100 MW of electricity to EU countries. And since August, Ukraine’s volume has doubled.
Ukraine exported UAH 721 million worth of electricity to the European Union in one month, Vladimir Kudrytsky, head of the board of Ukrenergo, said on Monday, August 1.
“Today, the export income we have with a minimum volume of 100 MW for the first month has brought us, as an energy system operator, more than UAH 700 million in income,” he said.
The head of Ukrenergo recalled that last week the European network of electricity transmission system operators ENTSO-E was allowed to increase the volume of Ukrainian electricity exports to Europe by 2.5 times – up to 250 MW .
“It is clear that with the increase in the volume of permitted exports, this number can still increase significantly. These are the funds that Ukrenergo can send to other market participants, including through the balancing mechanism of the market, so that all power plants can finance repairs and winterization “, – said Kudritsky.
In general, for the month, the average weighted price of access to the interstate section reached 8.6 thousand UAH / MWh, 84 thousand MWh of the section was distributed.
The Ministry of Energy believes that with the help of Ukrainian electricity, the EU can save 5-6 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
Recall that on June 27, ENTSO-E agreed on the start of commercial export of Ukrainian electricity to EU countries. And the import-export of electricity to Romania for 100 MW started on June 30. In almost a month, Ukraine exported electricity worth UAH 500 million.
