The Danish manufacturer of designers terminated the contract with the main partner in the Russian Federation and finally left the country.
The Lego company stopped commercial activities in Russia and broke ties with Inventive Retail Group, which operates brand stores in the country. This was reported on July 12 by Inc magazine, citing Evgeny Chikhachev, CEO of Lego’s Russian division.
“Due to the continuing significant disruption in the operating environment, we made the decision to stop commercial activity in Russia indefinitely. This includes the termination of most of our team in Moscow and our cooperation with Inventive Retail Group,” – said. of the company’s representative in Russia.
According to Chikhachev, the Moscow office has already laid off 70 employees.
It noted that 81 Lego stores operate in Russia under the leadership of Inventive Retail Group, which also operates stores with Apple, Samsung and Nike brands. Some of the outlets suspended work in early June, what will happen to others is still unknown.
Russian experts say construction kits can be imported through parallel imports and sold in the same stores, but the signage needs to be changed.
Earlier the media reported that the Chinese company Honor suspended the supply of the devices to Russia.
Recall that against the backdrop of Western sanctions, the Russian authorities legalized parallel imports. On June 21, the State Duma allowed the importation of goods into Russia without the consent of the rights holders until the end of 2022, and on June 28 the law was signed by President Vladimir Putin.
